The company produces and sells about 350 special colors in 3 lines of inks starting from 9 basic colors and different varnishes. The basic colors and varnishes are imported.

Challenge

The process of color development, formulation, and production was done manually. Color variation in each batch of basic ink impacts the formulation of the special color. The unavailability of a basic color impacts the ability to produce if an alternative formula cannot be found.

Solution

The solution was to create a formula management automation model, allowing the software to learn from each production, alternatives for each color, reuse unsold special colors depending on their components in new developments, optimize the calculation of demand, and reduce the residual unused stock by 95%.
